Another Year Has Gone By
And I'm Still The One By Your Side!!!

On November 14th we CELEBRATED 25 years of marriage!!!! Knowing how much Satan works on marriages and families I have definitely decided that every anniversary needs to be CELEBRATED. Each and every year becomes monumental!!! We spent some much needed alone time in California. We enjoyed a day at Disneyland with each other and I felt guilty for a few seconds not having the kids with us but we had soooo much FUN. We did a session in the San Diego Temple and spent some time on the beach. We talked a lot about the past 25 years and how much we have grown as a couple. When you get married young, you really do grow-up together. I know there were things that Tim did that drove me crazy when we first got married but it has been sooo long that I can't remember what they were!! I am thankful for the spirit bearing witness to my soul that he was the one because I have clung onto that witness many times through the years. I am grateful for Temple covenants, unconditional love and forgiveness.

I love you Tim - it's a pleasure growing OLD with you!!

Happy Baptism Day!!

On October 29th Mary was baptized. She was so excited !!! We are very thankful for the opportunity to raise this beautiful girl. She has been a blessing to our family. She is a little sponge when it comes to gospel learning and she loves to sing. I Love To See The Temple is her favorite primary song. We sing it almost every Monday for F.H.E.. The day was packed with family activities. We spent the morning in the Temple, my niece and nephew (Ciara and Huston) received their endowments. There is nothing better then a Celestial room full of loved ones. It is heaven on earth. We hurried home for Maryjane's big day and then spent the evening enjoying good food and fun company. We had our own little trunk or treat in the driveway and all the kids were happy:-)

Nates Very First Break!!!

You can't raise kids without scrapes, bumps, bruises, stitches or breaks. Nate was playing next door with cousins and they decided to go on a Jungle Safari in the bedroom closet, swinging and climbing like monkeys from shelf to pole!! Well - closet Safari's are dangerous and lessons are learned:-) He is sooo proud of his camouflage cast. Remember the good ol' days when casts were plaster and only came in the color WHITE.

Hopefully in a few days he will be getting it off - It has been a LONG 3 weeks!!

Tradition - Tradition!!

At General Conference time we have had the tradition of chocolate milk and white donuts for breakfast. I know that it's a silly tradition but my kids love it!! They know that when we have those 2 things for breakfast that it is Conference time:-) This is Gracilyns first attempt with white donuts - Grandad, what the heck are you feeding me???

This year in between sessions we made these silly Halloween jars. Super easy and super fun!!

First Time Soccer Players!!

We loved teasing Mary when she was the goalie - she either had her hands in her shirt or tangled up in the net!!

Soccer came to Heber!!! Nate, Mary and Tyon had their first soccer season. Hopefully there will be many more to come:-) They had a great time learning a new sport. Nate and Mary were on the same team with Melanie Ulmer as their coach and Tyton was coached by Annette Reidhead. A big thanks to them for putting up with my kids and a HUGE thank you to Sandy Tenney and those who helped make soccer possible this year!!!!

This year my dad grew the best PUMPKIN PATCH ever!! The kids had a ton of fun going out to the ranch. They picked their very own pumpkin and fed corn to the steers. We have had our pumpkins sitting by our front door for weeks and numerous visitors have commented on how lucky we are to have them. We have learned that pumpkin prices have sky rocketed $$$$$ We LOVE you grandpa!Thanks for saving us $ at the grocery story!!

On the 6th of this month this monkey turned nine!!! CRAZY!!! Seems like yesterday when we first picked him up from the zoo!!! When I tuck in my little ones the night of their birthday, I share with them my feelings about their birth. With this guy I tell him how fun it was to go to the zoo and see the cutest little monkey swinging from a tree and how we had to wait until dark to sneak him out of the zoo:-) We laugh and giggle and then I tell him how he really came to our family (he was born in my heart). I am grateful that he's mine and for the things that he teaches me daily. He has taught me to step out of the box and be creative in my mothering skills. He has taught me that being different is a beautiful thing and uniqueness should be celebrated!!!! Happy Birthday Nate Dawg!!!

Crazy hair day - Crazy kids!!

The week of Homecoming the school does all these crazy days. These 3 got to go to school in their pajamas, do their hair all crazy, dress up real pretty and show school spirit on pride day!!! This is the best I could do for crazy hair day. Actually, everyday is crazy hair day when you need a hair cut:-)

Pee Wee Wrestling!!

My boys came home a few weeks ago from school with this paper about a Pee Wee Wrestling Tournament. When Tyton walked in the door he had the paper in his hand and was yelling "Can I do it, can I do it, can I do it?" I told him he could:-) Nate walks in the door and I ask him to get all the papers out of his backpack and get going on homework. I asked him if he wanted to do the wrestling tournament and he looks at me and says "Mom -I just don't think I have it in me this year!" I started laughing and told him that I didn't know if I had it in me this year either. Tyton had a great time - he ended up wrestling all his friends. My favorite match was when he wrestled Payton, when the match was over they gave each other the biggest hug!!!

Football for Brock is OVER!!

Yep - it's over!!! Brock had a great jr high football season. He was the QB for his team and with each game showed more confidence and improvement. He had a great time and they even WON a few games. I know that sounds mean to say but in the past our jr high teams have not done so well. Some highlights this season .....Close game with Round Valley....Victory over Sequoia and Joseph City:-)

Macky's Eagle Project

Macky FINALLY got his Eagle Project done!!! He worked closely with Brother Bigler and did his project at the cemetery. He had great support from his family and friends and they all worked hard. They raked, bagged and hauled off a ton of brush. I think they made three different trips to the dump. Super glad that it is over with and very thankful to everyone who helped:-)

Over Labor Day weekend we had our Tenney family reunion. It was a lot of fun and I am so blessed to have the family that I have. We were surprised by a few family members that we didn't think would make it:-) We played games, made crafts, ate yummy food, watched a few ballgames, rode a few four wheelers, swam in the pond, went fishing, harvested corn and dry packed a lot of cans. I would say it was a success, not because of all the different things we did but because we were together:-)

Grateful that he is where he is but missing him like crazy. Just wish I could give him a big birthday squeeze and tell him how thankful I am that Heavenly Father sent him to me 20 years ago. I miss his humor, teasing, movie quoting skills, laughter and hugs. I miss him walking in the door and trying to guess what we are having for dinner. I miss the soda's that he would buy me from Circle K. Silly I know but man I MISS the kid!!!! It is crazy to think that on Thursday he will experience HUMP DAY!! WOW a whole year has gone by already. So many blessings have come to our family from his missionary service. We Love you Bubba!!

Brock had his 14th birthday yesterday!!! I can't believe that my (1st) baby is already 14!!! He was the baby of the family for years before Nate, Mary and Tyton came along. I am so thankful for Brock and the good kid that he is. We have joked with him for years and called him "Nephi". I think sometimes he has had to endure older brothers who have acted like Lamen and Lemuel - haha To be called "Nephi" is a compliment!!!

Brock I love you and I am so thankful for you. I appreciate your goodness and your desire to be obedient. You are s great big brother and are always helping your poor momma out:-)

Happy Mother's Day!!! I love the saying "mirror, mirror on the wall, I am my mother after all". If only I could be more like my mother, she is a wonderful example to me and the longer I am a mother the deeper my love grows for her. I love being a mom, it is all I have ever wanted to be. I appreciate the things I learn from my kids everyday, they are my greatest teachers. I appreciate there patience with my parenting skills, there forgiveness and unconditional LOVE. I was especially grateful this Mother's day for a simple phone call and for the sweet, sweet voice on the other end. As a family we anticipated his call for weeks, we counted down the days, then the hours and then patiently waited for our turn to talk. To see first hand the excitiment and smiles on faces. That is the beauty of MOTHERHOOD!!

Watch Out - Pinewood Derby!!

Nate was so excited for his first Pinewood Derby!! For days we talked a lot about being a good sport and not getting upset if you lose:( This conversation has taken place with everyone of our boys. Tim just flat out tells them that he doesn't know how to make fast cars. We just pray that the car will go down the track:)

It was so fun to watch the excitement on his face every time his car went down the track. It didn't matter to him if he won or loss. Nate Dawg your police car was AWESOME!!

I love this pic!! We had so much fun at the beach while we were waiting for van 2 to arrive at the finish line!!

We went to a hotel to get cleaned up while van 2 had just started running their last leg. As you can see we were exhausted. This is one of the sweetest pictures ever!

I LOVE this lady - she was my training buddy and put up with my slow, turtle like skills!!

This is a group of young ladies that we met early on in the race. They cheered all of us on and were so kind. They made my night run (2nd leg) so much fun. We found out that they were also L.D.S. - we love the "Single Ladies".

Our entire "WHAT THE HILL" team. We got a ton of compliments on our team name and people taking pictures by our van. It was an appropriate team name for this Ragnar. Every team member at some point had a major HILL to conquor - this 200.9 mile course was rough!

I wish I could have spent more time with these fellows. I am so thankful for their encouragement and love. They tore it up!!!!

I have the best sisters-in law. I love spending time with this one. She makes me laugh and when you are with her there never is a dull moment.

This was Leslie's first ragnar - she did awesome - she is Lori's older sister - she always looked like a million bucks - She had a night run that was pretty intense -we appreciate all the sponsor money she raised for us to be able to go.

Shawna and Melody - two of my team mates that were so fun and supportive. Shawna was on our team last year but was in the other van, so it was a treat for me to get to hang out with her and get to know her better. She is an amazing runner. Melody experienced so many tender mercies on this trip. When we left she was struggling with a foot/leg injury but you never would have know it. Prayers and priesthood blessing were answered, it was a beautiful thing to witness.

ROCKIN ROBBI - TWEET-TWEET-TWEET!! This gal had a hill on her last leg that was intense. When the hill saw her coming it crumbled, it was scared:)

This is mother hen - she took such good care of us - she was always checking and making sure that everyone was alright - you would get in from a run and she would have a recovery drink waiting. I don't think this lady with ever know or understand how much she means to me.

Sisters are the BEST -This picture makes me miss my sister. She wasn't able to go with us this year due to having a new baby and surgery. I missed her terribly but know that there will be other adventures we will experience together.

It was sooo HOT - California experienced record breaking heat the 2 days we were there. It was in the mid 80's which is hot for me considering a week earlier I was running in snow. I sweat so bad!! My shirt had salt marks all over it.

Sweet Story!!

On Sunday we had the opportunity to listen to Anthony Cronin report his mission in our ward. It was amazing!! In his talk he shared a sweet story about listening to the spirit. This experience happened right after Chili had just experienced a terrible earthquake and they kept having blackouts. As a companionship they were getting ready to leave their apartment for the day when the spirit told him he should put his flashlight in his backpack. He ignored the prompting and again the thought came to him to put his flashlight in his backpack and a second time he ignored the prompting and off they went. They had finished their appointments and lessons and were headed home that evening when the town experienced a blackout which left him and his companion on the street totally in the dark. He shared how the spirit will prompt us at times to do "simple things" and how disappointed he was in himself for not listening. We got home from church and had a visit from our Home Teachers. Nate was asked to give the closing prayer and was acting all shy so Tim was helping him. Tim was trying to get him to close his prayer when Nate told Tim that he wasn't done and to wait. He paused and then said "Help Bubba to remember to put his flashlight in his backpack so when he's outside and it's dark he won't be scared"!! My heart was overflowing. It was one of those WOW moments that mom's love to experience!! I was thrilled that he was actually listening in church and it reiterated to me how much he LOVES and WORRIES about his big brother. I love these moments!! I am so grateful for a missionary son and the blessings that are coming to our family through his service. The influence of a brother is an amazing thing! I LOVE my boys!!

How can 2011 top this???? I had to post this picture - I think the look on this Granddad's face is priceless!! We have been so blessed throughout the year. When I get to pondering all the blessings that we have received in 2010, my heart feels like it will burst. Here is a little look at our 2010...

Jan - We went to battle in a trial for Maryjane.

Feb - The judge ruled in our favor - Maryjane is adopted - yea!!

Mar - Macky turned 16 and is dating and driving. No wrecked cars or broken hearts:)

Apr - Ran in my very first Ragnar in Southern CA - I've never worked so hard and had so much FUN all at the same time!

May - Maryjane was sealed to our family - all of our children were in the Temple - Grandpa Tenney performed the sealing.
Tim and JT went on the Senior trip to CA - lots of rides and laughs.
JT graduated from Seminary and M.H.S..
We took our "older" children on a Church History Trip - it was a trip of a lifetime!

June - JT received his mission call to the Washington D.C. South Mission:)
Macky was able to attend an EFY.

July - JT was able to receive his own endowment in the Snowflake Temple.
Our 3 little guys took swimming lesson for 2 weeks - FUN - FUN - FUN.

Aug - JT had his 19th b-day and entered the MTC four days later:)
Football starts and Tim is now the head coach for MHS.

Sept - Practices - Piano lessons - Dr. and Dentist appts - Helping out at the Jr High Library.

Oct - Homecoming - General Conference - Time Out For Women:)

Nov - State football game:( - 24th Wedding Anniversary - Carly's baby shower - Christmas tree getting!

Dec - Grandpa Tenney's radiaton treatment on his eye - Nativity story - Chace's farewell - Ward party - Other parties:)

Gracilyn Mallory was born (early) Sunday 12-19-10

6 lbs 9 0z 20 inches long

We couldn't wait to meet her - as soon as church was over we were on our way.

It is as if I am looking at Carly (22 years ago) all over again.

She is the BEST Christmas present ever!! We are so grateful that all went well. I pretty much pulled an all nighter worrying about her mommy until she arrived safely. They would call me with updates but everything, especially the time seemed to be moving in slow motion. Carly arrived at the hospital a little before 1:00 am and she was born around 4:30 am, not to shabby for a first time mom. I ran into the bedroom with my cell phone to show Tim a picture. I was telling him, "She's Here, She's Here" and Tim thought I meant Carly was at the front door needing to be let in hahaha - he was oblivious to what was going on and I had been an absolute mess the whole night!!! Our cup runneth over!!

Yea - Wrestling is OVER!!

On Saturday Brock had his final Wrestling Tournament. He had a pretty successful season and seemed to really enjoy this sport. I grew up with a house full of boys that LOVED this sport and were very good at it but I think it is STRESSFUL!!! I am grateful that Brock didn't have to cut weight or that would have been even more stressful:) I love this kid - he is a pretty mellow fellow. Mellow and wrestling really don't go that well together but he had a good experience and now we are on to basketball season.

I saw the funniest t-shirt at the tournament it said... "I would rather wrestle and wear a singlet, then play basketball and dribble in my shorts"!!!! hahaha

Oh Christmas Tree!!

This year our annual Christmas tree cutting was scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving. We usually go the day after Thanksgiving but this year we went the day before because of my mom and dads Temple schedule. Tyton woke up that morning throwing up so I stayed home with him and sent the rest of the family. They had a great time and Tim and Macky cut us a beautiful tree. I am grateful for family traditions and the memories we have made through the years. I really missed going this year but didn't want to show my emotions because I didn't want Tyton to feel bad:( I am so thankful for my family and for the fun, crazy moments that we have shared together!! A FAMILY THAT PLAYS TOGETHER, STAYS TOGETHER!!!!

On Novemer 11th, we had a baby shower for Carly. I am amazed at the love, kindness, support and generosity of friends and family. It was a beautiful evening full of fun and laughter. Afterwards, Carly just sat there in awe, overwhelmed with every one's kindness. I am grateful for the "small town" that we live in and the love and support that we give each other. She definitely was SHOWERED!!! A BIG THANK YOU to everyone!!!

On Sunday, Tim and I celebrated our 24th Wedding Anniversary. That is a really loooong time to be married to someone:) Things were a little gloomy around here due to the loss of our state football game. We were talking the other night and came to the conclusion that in the 24 years that we have been married, we have spent 22 of those years on a football field on or around our anniversary!!!! He is always teasing me, telling me "I knew what he was when I picked him up"!! At times I have had some pretty good pity parties, feeling sorry for myself but in those moments I've heard my Grandma Tenney's voice telling me "Oh honey, don't complain, he could be sitting in a bar somewhere"!!!! haha

I am one lucky, blessed lady. I am so grateful for the man I married and for the good man that he is. We have grown and matured ALOT over the years. He is the best thing that ever happened to me!!

I know the word is out about my dad and the tumor in his eye. On Thursday he will be going to Tucson for more tests and procedures and even though I am not sure what Thursday will bring.....

For Homecoming this year Macky was voted Duke by his peers for his Sophmore Class. The really cool thing about it was his actual Homecoming date (Lindsey Crandell) won Duchess. She is a awesome young lady!!! Congrats you two:) Macky actually broke the "homecoming curse", for 4 years straight JT was nominated for royalty and lost every time. It became a huge joke around here (I GROW-UP TO BE A LOSER) and what do you know, the little bro WINS!! Way to go Macky!!!

We have alot of birthdays this month in our family but this birthday is a special one for Nate. He turned EIGHT!!! We are looking forward to his baptism. There are 4 cousins (Amelia, Nate, Tessa and Kimball) that all turn eight this month, so we have decided to have a "cousins baptism day". Amelia and Nate have to wait the longest to bet baptized, their b-days were on the 5th and 6th, so I just wanted to wish my boy a Happy Birthday!! It has been a treat to watch him learn and grow. He has overcome so many things, he has moved mountains!! I really have enjoyed watching him grow spiritually, we have been talking to him alot about baptism trying to get him ready and it has been very entertaining:) I asked him the other night why we get baptized and here are a few of his answers....

It's a commandment. (We have worked on this answer for weeks)
So the Holy Ghost can walk by me.
So Satan can see me get baptized :)
So my sins won't stay on me.

I could see the wheels a turning as we talked, it takes him a while to process things but I finally think he's getting it and that makes me happy. He makes me HAPPY and I am so grateful that I have the privilege of being his mom. My heart is bursting with thankfulness for the opportunity to make a difference in his life. Actually he's making a difference in mine!!!

I love the saying "SAME OLD CRAP, JUST A DIFFERENT DAY"!! What did you do today?? Here are just a few things that went down today....

Started the morning off with a biggest loser workout that was suppose to take me 40 minutes to do but instead it took me 1 hour 15 minutes because I kept getting interrupted !! Yes - I love you honey and I really didn't mind bringing you your wallet but when you said you would meet me outside the building I thought you meant right then not 15 minutes later. I definitely couldn't bring it to you in your classroom because I LOOKED and SMELT like POO:)

I then got ready for the day and drove myself to Snowflake for a boob smashing experience haha!! HUM - what do I LOVE more mammograms or pap smears?? I really can't decide, I think it's a tie!!

I then came home to 7 piano lessons. Children that needed their mom, homework that couldn't get done unless I was sitting by their side keeping them on task. I finally told the one child I was setting the buzzer for 30 minutes and if he got his homework done I would take him to Circle K to buy whatever he wanted and I meant WHATEVER (except for beer, maybe I should buy myself one)!! Surprised and shocked the child beat the buzzer and totally bothered me through the rest of my piano lessons wondering when I was going to take him. I hurried and got dinner on and jumped in the car to go reward the child I had bribed. I got home to find an IRATE child screaming in his room who was sent there by his father because he was pitching a huge fit because he didn't get to go. I then dealt with ATTITUDE and comments like these the rest of the night...
I don't like this family.
I want to go live somewhere else.
I am not picking up my room and you can't make me (which he had destroyed while timing out)!!
I am not going to school tomorrow.
You are so mean.
Dad is so mean.
I am not sleeping in my bed.

After dealing with ALL of that I went to switch out the laundry to find out that I had over looked/left a chap stick in a pocket and it melted all over the pants:( I then spent 30 minutes with the "spray and wash" bottle, which I didn't mind because it wasn't talking back!!!!!!

Yep - same old crap, just a different day!!!!

A spiritual feast - a trip of a lifetime!!

One morning we all went as a family to the Nauvoo Temple and did Baptisms For The Dead. The baptismal font is incredible. What a beautiful Temple and experience!!

We FINALLY took our older kids on a Church History Trip. Right after I graduated from high school I was able to be a participant in the Hill Cumorah Pageant (I was a wicked Lamenite), this experience was monumental for me in regards to my testimony. I swore then, that I would someday take my children to see and experience what I had. So, we left Sunday May 30th and returned home a week later on June 6th. We had a wonderful time!! We saw things and felt things that strengthened our testimonies and blessed us as a family. It was a trip filled with the spirit!!!!

This is the monument at the base of the Nauvoo Temple where J.T. got his call. It is Joseph and Hyrum on horse back, their final ride together on there way to Carthage. He got a text from Alyssa Weber who was watching our 3 little ones that she had just picked up his call in the mail. He was presented with a huge dilemma (do I wait 4 days and open the call myself or do I get Chace to read it to me over the phone??). Well - the suspense was killing him so he decided to have Chace read it to him over the phone. This monument is where he wanted to be when he found out. On our way there, we ran into the Brady's that we had met earlier on our trip and JT invited them to join us, they were so excited to be a part of it all. We all stood around this monument waiting to get the news. Chace was great and when he read WASHINGTON D.C.-SOUTH there was a lot of jumping up and down and squealing. Tim was freaking out because this is where he served on his mission!!!!! What a way to receive your mission call!!!!

He will be speaking English and reports to the MTC August 11th.

I love this place!!!!! Carthage jail is amazing, I learned a lot on this tour. Sister Despain from Snowflake was our tour guide and she did an incredible job, she shared a lot of stories and bore testimony of the things that took place here. It is hard to put into words the feelings I had while on this tour. I am so grateful for the Prophet Joseph Smith, for his courage and example -"Praise To The Man Who Communed with Jehovah"!!

This was my boys favorite place in Old Nauvoo - they had the coolest guns.

Don't they look thrilled?? We took this covered wagon ride through Old Nauvoo, I thought it was great but they thought is was looong and boooring!!

We went and saw this play called "High Hopes and River Boats". A bunch of young kids, ages 19-24 auditioned for a part in this production, they were amazing. The boys were super hesitant to go and watch it but Carly was determined to introduce the "arts" to her brothers and they loved it!!!! Yea -she might have started something!!

You talk about beautiful, this place is gorgeous!!! I can really see the Savior returning here!!! This was one of JT's favorite places. They had talked a lot about this place in Seminary and he was jazzed to see it.

Everything was sooo green and lush - I am still in awe with how beautiful it is!!

We had a picnic and ran into the Brady's that we had met earlier at Far West. In the middle of our lunch Sister Brady came up to JT, put her arm on his shoulder and pretty much bore her testimony to him. She told him that the things he was seeing and experiencing were true and correct and how grateful she was for the restored gospel. It was powerful!!! It really made a strong impression on him and I will be forever grateful to her for that.

Far West is beautiful - there is really not much to it, there is a monument and 4 corner stones where a Temple will be built but there is a really neat spirit there. This is where we met a older couple from Colorado "The Brady's"- we visited with them for a long time- great people.

Liberty Jail!!

My boys loved this place - they were really fasinated with the structure and size of the jail. At the end of the tour there is an audio that is played that talks about the different revelations that were given to the Prophet Joseph while in this jail (sections 121, 122 and 123 of the Doctrine and Covenants). The audio finished and our guide started singing " I Know That My Redeemer Lives", the spirit is a powerful thing -I really couldn't contain myself.

We were given an awesome tour, our tour guide talked a lot about ZION. What is Zion?? and how can we have Zion in our families??? Zion is of "One Heart"!!! She definantly got you thinking, a personal evaluation so to speak. I found myself having a lot of work to do!!

We sat around this Christus at the end of our tour and as a family we sang the hymn Redeemer of Israel by William W. Phelps. It was pretty powerful!!

This is the Community of Christ Temple which is across the street from the Visitor Center. Our tour guide encouraged us to go check it out and take a tour. After touring it, I totally understood why she would encourage it - you go from feeling the spirit strongly to not feeling it at all. It was a great teaching/learning moment for my kids. They all recognized the difference and commented on how cold and uncomfortable it felt. In the basement of their Temple is a museum that has a lot of Emma's and the Prophet Joseph's things. The have this "wall of the Prophets" which is the starting of their church, from the 1st prophet to their current prophet. It was interesting to see and read. One of their prophets retired and another one of their prophets resigned. They have a picture of their First Presidency which includes a woman and a picture of the quorum of the twelve which includes 4 women. It was a great testimony strengthening/building experience!!!

On May 28th 2010 JT graduated from Mogollon High School. We are super proud of this kid. He accomplished a lot in High School, especially his senior year. We are grateful for the good kid that he is and we are excited to see what the future holds for him:)

These two spent and spend a lot of time together. I love it when cousins are best friends. JT is blessed with amazing cousins and Chizzy is one of them. I never worry when Chizzy is a round because he does a great job keeping JT in line. These two are hilarious, I love being able to spend time with them!!!

On May 26th 2010 - J.T. graduated from Seminary. I love Seminary Graduation. There is always a really neat spirit there.

This picture is missing a few kids, it was difficult to get everyone together at the same time. A great bunch of kids doing great things!!!

I really do love and appreciate this man - President Whipple. He is one of JT's best friends and I think that is totally neat. The kids really do love and respect this man. A while back we were having a little conversation with JT and Macky about if they ever found themselves in trouble what would they do and who would they call. JT made it very clear that President Whipple would be the first person he would call. Tim seemed a little surprised and disappointed that he wasn't first on JT's list. JT informed Tim that President Whipple wouldn't yell/scream and reprimand that he would simply come to his rescue and listen. I thought that that was a wonderful compliment to President Whipple. I really am THANKFUL for him.

I have a family here on earth. They are so good to me. I want to share my life with them through all Eternity. Families can be together forever through Heavenly Fathers plan. I always want to be with my own family, and the Lord has shown me how I can. The Lord has shown me how I can.

Saturday morning we had the opportunity to be with all of our children in the Temple for the sealing of Maryjane. What a beautiful day, I am grateful for the blessings of the Temple, for a father (grandpa) who holds the priesthood authority, sealing power to bind families together. It was hard for me to contain my emotions because the spirit was so strong and powerful. I am grateful for a wise Heavenly Father who designed a beautiful plan, a plan that allows all of his children a way back home. As I sat in the Sealing room with all of my children, my desire was for them to know and understand the gospel of Jesus Christ, to apply its teachings into their lives and for all of them to enjoy the promises and blessings of Temple covenants. I am sure that is how Heavenly Father feels:) It is all about making and KEEPING sacred covenants!!!! As everyone cleared the room, we stayed as a family to look in the mirrors. What a sight!! It went FOREVER!! It was a great chance to express our love and gratitude for each other - I am so blessed!!!!

My "Elect" Lady!!

Today has been a very melancholy day - I got a phone call this morning from my mom telling me that Grandma had passed away. She has wanted to leave this earth for quite some time. I can only imagine the joyous reunion she has had:) What a blessing this lady has been in my life. As a child I had the privilege of her living close by. She was my school teacher in the 1st grade and then again in the 3rd grade, she was a loving teacher. I have so many fond memories, too many to name. She taught by example and is truly a virtuous woman. I long to be like her, I have never met anyone so forgiving. She has lived a beautiful life. There is a scripture in D&C 25:2-3 that reminds me of her, although it is talking about Emma, I feel that I can replace my grandma's name with hers. It reads... and if thou art faithful and walk in the paths of virtue before me, I will preserve thy life, and thou salt receive an inheritance in Zion. Behold, thy sins are forgiven thee, and thou art and elect lady whom I have called.

My grandma is my "elect" lady, her life was definitely preserved, 96 years old is not to shabby. I will be forever grateful for the legacy she has left behind. I thank her for raising such an amazing son who I love and adore. My cup runneth over!!!!!

Heather is getting ready to hand off to me - My first leg was 7.7 miles !!

I ran by strawberry fields and sod farms. It was sooo hot - I was drenched by the time I was done.

This picture was taken after all of our first legs were finished. Hurray - only 2 more legs to go!! Our 2nd legs we ran at night, it was intense and at times pretty scarey but a huge sense of accomplishment. We ran our 3rd legs early the next morning, we were exhausted, running on little to no sleep but so worth it:)

On Sunday on the way back home, I turned to Tim and told him that I finally get what it is all about. I grew up in a family of boys and watched them play in championship games and then married a man that played and coached in championship games and I finally understand the feeling of "sweet victory"!! I understand what it feels like to work extremely hard for something - give it all you've got - hold nothing back - leave it all on the field (so to speak). The experience leaves you with so much love and admiration for your team mates and incredible respect for your coaches. Running this Ragnar has been an experience of a lifetime. It has been one of the hardest things I have ever done but the most rewarding. I love the smell of victory and believe me it has a smell:) Would I do it again?? In a heart beat - this stuffs addicting!!!

This post is extremely late!!! I just wanted to express my LOVE and appreciation to my "one and only" sister. I waited a long time to FINALLY have a sister in my life. When I left home, you where only six years old. We didn't have a lot in common, there was such an age difference, our roles in the family were totally different. Through the years I have learned just how much I need my sister, you are one of my best friends. You are a blessing in my life. I am grateful that you live close by. You are always serving and coming to my aid. You never tell me NO and you even do my grocery shopping for me:) EVERYDAY I thank Heavenly Father for you!! I hope you know how much I love you - Happy (Late) Birthday!!!!

Have you ever had the chance to take a (lengthy) ride in a vehicle with teenagers??? If the answer is NO - then I highly recommend it:) I totally recommend taking your teenager to
General Conference. You will have the BEST time and learn TONS of things on the way. It was one of the funnest weekends I have ever had. We left Friday morning at 5:00 am (okay 5:15 thanks to Ron not having ice in the ice chest) we laughed, visited, sang, quoted, ate, laughed, farted, reminisced, teased, snacked and laughed some more all in a 10 hour drive. We stayed at the Nelson's (Thanks G-Rodg and Gloria). We ate shrimp steak at a place called Maddox. Went on a 6 mile run (okay just Lori and I). Shopped for a prom dress (she looks beautiful). Shopped at our new favorite store called Smith & Edwards. Met up with and old mission president. Shot some skeet. Attended Priesthood Session. Watched Sherlock Holmes. Sat in the Conference Center for a really long time. Got to sit by my son:) Saw President Monson and other Prophets too. Listened and learned. Felt the spirit. Left feeling very grateful to be a part of it all.

Macky always seems to get the shaft when it comes to birthdays. It is always during spring break and there is a ton of things going on and we never celebrate his birthday the way he would like us to. We were in Tucson on his birthday and thanks to Uncle Rick (who is always full of surprises) he invited us out to his house for a birthday bbq. He even made sure that girls were there and bought him the cutest dinosaur birthday cake!!!! Needless to say Macky was super embarrassed.

On Saturday we surprised him again with a party for him and his best friend Michael Whipple (aka Whip). Great Friends - Great Food - Great Time!!!

Spring Break FUN!!!

We went to Tucson for a few days during Spring break to spend some time with Nana and Grandad. We also got the chance to see a few friends in one of our favorite places - The Tucson Zoo!!! We have been going to the Tucson Zoo for years (since Carly was a baby). Our kids love it - this time our kids got to feed the giraffes. Their long tongues would quickly grab the biscuit right out of your hand, leaving you with lovely slim all over your fingers - YUM!!!!

We had a great time and really enjoyed the warm weather:)

Yesterday was my mom's 65th birthday and I would be a terrible and ungrateful daughter if I didn't pay tribute to her. Here are just a few things that I admire and appreciate about her.....

I think she is BEAUTIFUL inside and out!

I loved coming home as a child from school and calling out her name.

She always makes me feel important and special.

She is always the last one to the dinner table and is an amazing cook.

She is a perfectionist and spends a lot of time wanting things "just right".

She has been given some beautiful gifts and talents and is willing to share them with others.

She is a great teacher.

She has a strong testimony of the restored gospel.

She is a great example to me when it comes to service in the church. She has spent many years dealing with the responsibilities of home life alone and never complains.

She loves serving in the church and goes above and beyond in her callings:)

She loves her family!!!!

She loves to support her grandchildren in their various activities.

I couldn't have asked for a better earthly mother. I love the saying "mirror-mirror on the wall I am my mother after all" - I want to be like her in sooo many ways - I love you mom!!!!

Tyton celebrated his 5th birthday. I can't believe that my BABY is FIVE:( We waited a very long time for him and he is such a blessing to our family. We hope he knows how much we Love him. We tried and tried for a very long time after Brock was born to have another baby and well Heavenly Father had something else in mind. Heavenly Father's time schedule is very different from ours. We learned some very valuable lessons through it all and are grateful every day for you. Happy Birthday Lewis Tyton Slade!!!

Yesterday morning we FINALLY got the news that the Judge had made her decision, she ruled in our favor and Mary gets to be a permanent part of our family. It has been a stressful few weeks and we feel like the weight of the world has been lifted off our shoulders:)

I knew that once I started calling people to share the news that it would travel fast, so Aunt Tiff had a great idea to tell Mary at school by taking her balloons and flowers. It was a special treat for me to finally get to tell her the news and that she didn't have to worry any more:)

She was so excited and happy!!! What a special little girl - we are so blessed as a family. Words can not express how relieved, happy and grateful we feel. Thank you to all our friends and family who have been fasting and praying for us. Our cup is overflowing with gratitude to a loving Heavenly Father who has heard and answered our prayers!!!

This past week we spent Thursday and Friday in Holbrook at the court house in a trial fighting for this BEAUTIFUL girl. We spent a great amount of time in December getting ready for court.

We hired an Attorney (Sam Roser) who got to work and we are pleased with his efforts. To make a long story short it was a very emotional week for our family. We are grateful for your thoughts and prayers and we are trying very hard to put our faith and trust in the Lord. We feel very hopeful and are anxiously waiting to hear the Judges decision. She has 60 days to make her ruling but hopefully it won't take that long. We will keep you posted!!!!

I will post more later -and go into more detail - when I am not such a basket case:)

Football Banquet!!!!!!

On December 3rd they held this seasons Football Banquet.
Macky lettered in the sport as a freshman and was really excited to get his "M"!!!!!
He enjoyed playing on J.V. but I know he loved traveling with the varsity and was happy when he got some playing time. It was a treat for me to watch him with his brother and dad.

Not every boy has the opportunity to be coached by two of their uncles and dad. I know at times it seems like a disadvantage because you are usually the first to be corrected, made an example of and yelled at but it is an experience of a life time. I am grateful that my husband decided to leave his "dream job" as Athletic Director in ShowLow to be with our kids on the field and on the court. What was seen as a sacrifice at the time has ended up being a great blessing in the lives of our children!!!

J.T. was awarded Most Valuable Player and First Team Defense
He experienced a serious shoulder injury (that still is causing him grief) but he was so dedicated and determined. 1A State Runners Up is not to shabby!!!!!

Brock Wrestling!!

Brock finished up his first wrestling season for Mogollon Jr. High. He seemed to really enjoy the sport. I don't know why I dislike this sport so much - you would think after being raised in a home with brothers who loved this sport and were pretty good at it that it wouldn't be so bad but it is definitely not my favorite. I was constantly telling Brock to call Uncle Jo Jo to get his ideas for cutting weight and to see if "spitting" Jolly Ranchers really works:)

Last night I received the best therapy session of all - FRIENDSHIP!!! I think gathering with women and enjoying each others company, good food and laughter is the best therapy on earth:)
Holidays can get a little hectic/insane - with so many things to do and very little time but I learned last night that there should ALWAYS be time for friendship. Friends make life a lot more FUN!!! I also realized last night that I have missed out on a lot of opportunities to be uplifted, strengthened and re energized by amazing women who love unconditionally. Last night was a great way for me to start off the holiday and left me wanting to spread Christmas Cheer!!

This weekend we had the opportunity to travel to Tucson and spend some time with family. We were able to see my father-in-law who has been pretty sick lately, he is such an amazing man and we are not sure what next Thanksgiving will bring but we are very GRATEFUL for the time we were able to spend with him this weekend. We LOVE you granddad:)

Saturday was our 23rd Wedding Anniversary!!!! The majority of our anniversaries have been spent at football games. I must admit that at times I have been a little bitter or resentful of the fact that football takes precedence over our MARRIAGE!!! I have had plenty of PITTY parties trying to work through it and this is what I have discovered...

***Our marriage is better when we play on the same team, I have a tendency to always want to play on the DEFENSE!!

***Our marriage has experienced a few penalties -ROUGHING THE KICKER - OFF SIDES - UNNECESSARY ROUGHNESS - UN SPORTSMAN LIKE CONDUCT - HOLDING - ILLEGAL USE OF THE HANDS - FACE MASK - CLIPPING -(I definitely have had a few of these called on me through the years)!!!!

***When Christ is the CENTER of our marriage, it doesn't matter who's the QB!

***Our children have become our biggest FANS!!!

***Walking off the FIELD and quiting is never an option!!!

I think this quote is GREAT!!! It has been interesting to watch JT this week as he's prepared for his FINAL football game this Saturday. The other night he came in my room and sat on the edge of my bed and commented how this is the END, the LAST week of practice and his LAST football game:) I just sat there listened and smiled. Our sweet little Mary celebrated her 6th birthday!!! It was a fun family party with a ton of cousins. Champ helped her blow out her candles, we had to light them twice!!

I love this pic - she is sooo excited!!! She got just what she wanted!!!

She is my play doh girl - she loves this stuff - it makes a pretty good mess but it keeps her, nate and tyton busy for hours - so I think it's way worth it!!!

For F.H.E. we split up into teams and carved pumpkins. We had a FUN time and I was grateful that my "big" kids where so kind and patient with the "little" ones.

Dylan - Tyton - Macky - their pumpkin was pretty funky and cool looking!!

Brock was teamed up with JT - notice JT is no where to be found:) JT cleaned out the pumpkin and told Brock that he could work his "carving magic" on the thing - he said he didn't want another stubby finger:) - I think it was just an excuse to watch the football game on T.V.

Nate and I had a great time - SPOOKY !!!! (I'm referring to myself not the pumpkin)

PUMPKIN PATCH!!

October 23rd - I was able to go with Mary on her first official field trip. We went to the Pumpkin Patch in Snowflake. It was a lot of fun and Tyton was even able to go with us. We had a great time in the corn maze and picking pumpkins. It didn't take the kids very long to pick out their pumpkin (30 seconds at the most).

Tyton had a great time and was so glad that he got to go. He loved riding on the school bus there and back.

Senior Night!!

On Friday October 23rd - JT had senior night. All the senior football players line up on the field and are recognized/spotlighted. They read a little blurb that each senior has written about themselves and of course JT's was very entertaining:) He mentioned coming home from his mission and ranching with Monti Hancock:)

It was a bitter/sweet night for me. I was a little bitter at my son for wishing his life away, ever since he was in jr high he just couldn't wait to be a senior and be on that football field. He wanted it to hurry and get here and it has. It's sweet in the fact that he is very driven and has accomplished a lot in this sport. It's even sweeter that his Uncle Ron and dad are his coaches and that he gets to play along side his cousin Chace. JT is a lot like his dad, he LOVES this game and spends many hours working hard, watching film and dreaming of big plays:)

Little White Chicken and "little white lies"!

The other day Nate comes in from outside all upset saying one of our chickens had died. I started asking him questions and he tells me that he was down checking on the chickens when the "little white chicken" started choking!!! He said it was choking and choking and choking and finally it fell over and died. I then asked him where the chicken was and he proceeded to tell me that he buried it in the creek. When Tim got home from practice I told him about the chicken and he went to check it out. In the mean time Nate was sitting at the dinner table getting ready to eat when JT came in and started asking Nate-dawg how he was doing. Nate starts crying and yells out "I KILLED A CHICKEN"!!!!!
Well to make a long story short he totally came clean with the "little white chicken" story to his big brother. He tells JT that he went down to check on them and he had these marbles in his pocket from a game that he got for his birthday the night before. He told JT that he fed it a marble and it started choking and he didn't know what to do!!!! He said he didn't know how to help it and that it fell over and died!!!! Poor chicken!!! Nate cried and cried and cried, he actually cried most of the night and when I tucked him into bed he still was crying!!!

I am just grateful that he feels like he can tell his big brother anything - even the TRUTH!!!

SILLY BOY!!!

We were walking over to the Martineau's the other night for Amelia's birthday celebration and it was very DARK. I proceeded to cross the road and cut across their lawn like I always do, when all of a sudden I hit the ditch (that the County had dug out that morning) and I fell HARD!!! Large people do not fall light:) I was lying there on the ground with all my children around me. They were very concerned and it took me a while to get up and dust myself off. The next day I was taking Tyton over there to be babysat, I was walking over and he was riding his bike. I started to cross the road when he drops his bike and runs over and grabs my hand. I asked him what he was doing and he told me he was helping me cross the road so I wouldn't fall (sweeet huh). He then proceeded to tell me everywhere I should step (step right here mom, now step right here etc.) I made it across and onto their lawn when he lets go of my hand, starts clapping and yells "GOOD JOB- WAY TO GO MOM"!!!!

HOMECOMING WEEK!!!

This past week was Homecoming and there was something going on everyday of the week!!! It was absolutely CRAZY. My BIG boys had some activity every night, by the time the weekend came I was sooo tired. Here are some pictures of the Homecoming assembly on Thursday night. It was a lot of fun, both Macky and JT were up for Homecoming royalty.

I LOVE this picture !!! These boys have been nominated for Homecoming Royalty 4 years in a row and have lost every year:) I can't find their freshman and sophomore pics or I would have posted all 4 years - how HILARIOUS - "I grow-up to be a loser"!!!! They are so stinkin FUN and HANDSOME!!

I am blessed to have these boys in my life, they are not perfect, they don't always do and say the right thing but they're MINE and I'm THANKFUL for that!!!!

We survived another Homecoming week and we even won our football game a bazillion to nothin!!!!

What more could you ask for????

We just wanted to wish this crazy little boy a very Happy Birthday!!! There is not a day that goes by that you don't make us laugh. We waited a long time for you to join our family and you came in a very special way.

I will never forget the first time I met you at Phoenix Children's Hospital, it was LOVE at first sight and when it was time to say goodbye to you that day I just couldn't do it. I got in the car and cried and cried, it was as if I was leaving my baby behind and I knew right then just how special you are. I couldn't wait to get home to tell everyone about you. I told them about your amazing blue eyes and your cute little smile and what a lovable baby you were. A few days later daddy and I got to go pick you up from the hospital. We were so excited and nervous at the same time. Because you had a feeding tube we had to learn a lot of things from the nurses before we could bring you home. We got home really late and Carly was waiting up for you, she said she couldn't sleep. Early the next morning your brothers tiptoed into your room to see you for the first time, they were so excited to have a new little brother. You have been a great blessing to our family and we are so grateful that Heavenly Father allowed us to be a part of your life. We love you!!!

I like to make people stop and say, "I've never seen anyone run like that before". It is more than just a race, it's a style, it's doing something better than anyone else. It's being creative!"

I came across this running quote a while back and had to laugh. I know that when I started running over a year ago that I definitely made people stop and say "I've never seen anyone run like that"!! I actually would stop running if someone drove by because I was to embarassed to run in front of them. It was not a pretty sight, I felt awkward and ugly but as I continued to try and my distances got longer I began to not care what others might say or think. This journey that I have embarked on has helped me learn a few things ...

1 - That running is a beautiful thing!
2 - That I can be my own kind of "beautiful" when I run!!!!
3 - That this body that I have neglected and abused is forgiving and amazing!
4 - That running with a friend is so much FUN!
5 - That running won't kill me, because I'll pass out first!
6 - Encouragment is essential to a runners success!!

I went yesterday to Pinetop and participated in my second 10k. There were 9 of us that went - Lori, Marinda, Bruce, Shawna, Carly, Alyssa, Tiff, Tara and myself. Tiff and Tara ran the 2 mile and I have to tell my morning exercise partner just how proud I am of her. She had a personal best and hope she knows how much I love her. I am looking forward to many more races with her:) GO TIFF!!

I appreciate good friends that continue to encourage and uplift me. Carly and Alyssa stayed by myside the whole race, they were so much fun and I know that I would have never been able to "CONQUOR" that stupid hill without them. Thank you - Thank you - Thank you!!!

To my "runner" friends - yes you know who you are - LORI, MARINDA, BRUCE AND SHAWNA - It was a delight to be in your good company:) You make it look so EASY and you are BEAUTIFUL to watch. You have that "runners" look about you and as we arrived at the run to register and get warmed up it was fun to watch the other runners "scope out" their competition!!!! FUN - FUN - FUN!! It was as if I could read their minds....

Football Season - Is Here!!!

We eat, sleep, walk, talk this sport. You would think that after 23 years of marriage to a "footballaholic" I would be use to it by now!!! I've always enjoyed watching my husband play football but I must admit that I love watching my boys play it even more:) This past Friday we went to Flagstaff to the NAU Sky Dome to kick off this football season. We played Valley Lutheran and we ended up beating them pretty bad. The score was 72 to 36!!!!

The Sky Dome is a pretty cool place to play a football game!!!!

They had these HUGE screens and instant replay (it was awesome)!!!!

In the 2nd qtr - JT had an 80 yard interception for a touchdown!!!! He had a pretty amazing game, he also had a 60 yard touchdown catch along with a punt return for a touchdown!! All the boys played hard and hit hard, our little Macky guy even got some playing time in the 4th qtr:)

Between Tim coaching- JT on Varsity- Macky on J.V.- Brock on the Jr High team- this Football season should bring lots of miles on the car, black and red attire, hot cocoa, nervous stomachs and CHEERS!!!

I believe this was Jt's 7th grade year. I can't believe how fast the time goes by and I can't believe that he is a senior this year. I sure do love and appreciate this boy.

I just wanted to wish JT a happy 18th birthday. I hope he doesn't think that he is all grown-up and doesn't have to listen to his mom anymore:) What a blessing he is to our family. It is not easy being the oldest son but he's a GREAT one.

CHRONIC IRRITATION DISORDER!!!

I have decided to start a "Chronic Irritation Disorder Club". To be a member of this club you must suffer with severe IRRITATION!!!! Your irritation must be so bad that anything and everything irritates you. You are irritated by things that are absolutely lame and have nothing to do with your eternal salvation and the irritation you experience must last at least a week:)

EXAMPLE - My dear sister brought me a piece of coconut cream pie from Trappers (the best pie ever!!!) and I quietly put it in the BACK of the frig. The next night I thought "Oh yeah - I can have a little late night snack and share a treat with my honey". I went to the frig and looked and looked and there was NO pie. I started to get irritated and went to my honey who was watching T.V. in the bedroom and asked him if he had seen my pie. He immediately got the look of "oh crap - I'm busted", I was so irritated that he would eat my pie and he proceeded to give me some lame story of how he opened the box and it was already half eaten, so he just finished it off thinking I didn't want anymore. Well - that irritated me even more because I hadn't touched the pie and now there was more then one inconsiderate TERD living in my house!!! Now -I need to explain that this happened over a week ago and I am still IRRITATED!!! I want my pie!!! Now -I know it is a stupid piece of pie and I can always go to Trappers and get me a new piece but the thought of me having to do that is also IRRITATING!!!!

See what I mean, the irritation just goes on and on. So - if you experience events like this in your life (on a daily basis) and struggle days/weeks later with irritation, please join my club and we can suffer together!!!!

I haven't yet figured out what cures this disorder but I will tell you that consuming a huge amount of chocolate does help:)

Any thoughts or ideas - please let me know!!!!!!!!!!!

Freedom - Family - Friendship

This past week was a little crazy for me. We had a lot of different things going on. We had a big Slade family reunion, a baptism for my niece Eva, the adoption and Temple sealing of six of my nieces and nephews, Carissas run and ALL that comes with the 4th of July Celebration!! Just to give you an idea of my husbands 4th (Saturday)

He ran 2 miles in Carissas run - I am so proud of him!!

Our ward was in charge of the pancake breakfast

He drove a truck in the parade for the football team

He sold hamburgers & hot dogs for the Senior class

He took tickets at the youth dance after the fireworks

I was tired for him, he came home to watch the fireworks and you should have seen him, his eyes where so blood shot from all the smoke from the barbecue grill (I asked him what he had been smokin:) All in all it was a super fun day. I really enjoy the 4th, it is one of my favorite holidays. I greatly appreciate those men and women who fight so hard to keep our Country FREE!! I have so many memories of the 4th and I love the traditions that this little community has and I hope we don't take them for granted because they are important to me!!!!!!!!

I couldn't let this weekend pass without thanking my friend Lori Nelson (aka Jillian). She is a BIG TIME RUNNER and she was kind enough to run by my side in my very first 10K. She basically ran in place for 1 hr and 22 minutes but she was right there by my side, encouraging me the whole way. It meant a lot and I know that it was a sacrifice for her because her little legs are trained to run and run fast and hard!!!!!!

I can't believe my baby turned 12 today!! I call him the baby of my 1st family:) He was the baby for a really long time and then graciously gave up that roll when Nate joined our family. We joke and call him our NEPHI (not the jt and macky are laman and lemuel) but Brock has always been obedient and such a easy child to raise. There are so many things that I appreciate about Brock.

He is a great big brother!

He is a very good babysitter and he babysits A LOT!
